The Moroccan city of Settat, capital of the Settat province, lies between the capital Rabat and Marrakech. It has a population of approximately 145,000 inhabitants and is located some 84 kilometres south of Casablanca. In the early part of the 1990s the city became a university city and at the same time it became an international centre for golf. Within a year the city had built its own racecourse, the Hippodrome de Settat, where the principal race is the Journee Du Grand Prix De Settat which is contested each Christmas Day.
